Poppler Demand Isopods began as a passion project inspired by my desire to provide the best possible care for my reptiles. It naturally grew into a small ecommerce business selling geckos, isopods, springtails, feeder insects, and bioactive supplies.

Because it’s my business, I’ve had the opportunity to experience marketing from an entirely different perspective. There’s no separate designer, developer, photographer, copywriter, customer service team, or marketing department. I am all of them.

I built the ecommerce website from the ground up and developed the visual identity, including the logo, color palette, photography, product presentation, and overall customer experience. My goal was to create something that felt professional enough to establish trust while remaining approachable and authentic to the community it serves.

That meant thinking beyond aesthetics. The site needed to make it easy for customers to understand what they were buying, find the right products, navigate between related offerings, and feel confident purchasing living animals and specialized supplies online.

I photograph the animals myself and manage the creative direction, branding, website, content, customer experience, and business decisions. That makes this project particularly meaningful to me because it represents more than a website or a collection of creative assets.

I also developed an events component where customers can book interactive educational experiences featuring some of my friendliest animals. This expanded the business beyond ecommerce and created another way to build relationships with customers around education and shared interests. It’s offered a beautiful way to connect with my local community, especially children.

Poppler Demand is both entrepreneurship and end-to-end marketing, understanding an audience, developing a brand, creating an experience, communicating value, earning trust, and continually finding ways to make the business better.

Most importantly, it reminds me why I love marketing in the first place. When you care deeply about what you’re building, every detail matters.
